SHC has recently added a new technique to our awesome array of services called Visionary Craniosacral Therapy. Read more about this below and also check out our promotion we’re giving away for 10 FREE Craniosacral Massages!
A Little Background
Craniosacral Therapy evolved out of Cranial Osteopathy, first developed by William Sutherland, an Osteopathic physician in the 1930s. Contrary to popular belief, Dr Sutherland realized that cranial sutures are designed to express small degrees of motion. This therapy has since been developed in various schools and is practiced by Acupunturists, Osteopathic Physicians, Chiropractors, Naturopaths, and Massage therapists. Kammaleathahh has received training from the Milne Institute. You can also find additional information at The Upledger Institute.
What Happens?
A Craniosacral Therapist evaluates and supports the functioning of the the Craniosacral system which consists of the 22 bones of the human head; the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord; and the tailbone area, or sacrum. The Craniosacral system is contained within the central nervous system so it has an incredible influence over a variety of bodily functions. The practitioner helps the body release restrictions that inhibit the body’s normal, self-correcting tendencies. The therapist’s focus lies in following cues from the body on how to proceed, rather than directing the body.
Cransiosacral therapy does not use direct massage on the muscles; rather it places intentional contact on the cranial bones, facial bones, and sacrum. However, it can be integrated easily into a typical massage session.
